The coworking scene grew organically to answer the need for flexibility and convenience in support of upstarts and small businesses, as well as remote and independent professionals. But, high-profile and celebrity professionals need coworking space, too, and they bring an additional essential need to the table — exclusivity.

Developer Edmond Safra and restaurateur Juan Santa Cruz recently announced that a new Manhattan coworking club was in the works to address that very need — and much more. Expected to open in March 2023, Colette will occupy the entire 37th floor of the iconic GM Building. Members will enjoy perks such as generous views of Central Park and the Plaza Hotel; an exclusive gym; a bar; uniformed staff on hand for waiting and support; members-only dining; and the priceless chance to rub elbows with some of the most influential financiers in town.

This especially luxurious coworking space will be initially capped at 300 members and commands a buy-in fee of $125,000, along with an additional $36,000 in annual dues. Whether permanent city residents or itinerant professionals with a pied-a-terre in New York City, Colette is designed to welcome clients who are used to having an amazing office and a carefully curated professional experience.

Speaking to Bloomberg, which first reported the news, Santa Cruz stated: “The world has been evolving for quite some time and the pandemic has made it more evident that people do not use their offices as much as they think they do or wish they did. Why don’t we develop a coworking club, at the highest level, for people who are used to having an amazing office?”

Colette will include an owners’ lounge and 23 private offices, each measuring 400 square feet and fitted with individual temperature and lighting controls. The floor will also include conference rooms and meeting rooms.

Coco’s — the club’s restaurant — will reportedly be open to a somewhat larger exclusive membership for a lower buy-in fee. It will include a bar, a dining room and an omakase-concept chef’s table.
