The Heard Building, built in 1919 by Dwight B. Heard, was the first high rise in Arizona and is an iconic landmark of history and innovation-- a true testament to how far we have come as a city and community. With seven stories that have been home to the Arizona Republic newspaper, Phoenix's first radio stations and more, these walls have helped shape the history of Downtown Phoenix.

Today, the Heard Building has been reimagined as a premier workspace destination for professionals, startups, and growing teams. Inside, you'll find a blend of character and functionality — from beautifully restored architectural details to modern amenities like private offices, collaborative lounges, high-speed internet, secured entry, and fully-equipped conference rooms.

With flexible leasing options, multiple event areas, a training room, storage units and more, the building is located in a walkable location surrounded by restaurants, coffee shops, and light rail access. The Heard Building is more than just an office — it’s a home base for ideas, growth, and community. Whether you're hosting a meeting, building a business, or connecting with downtown energy, this is where Phoenix gets to work!

My experience in this building changed dramatically when ownership transferred from Expansive to Heard Building. Under Expansive’s management, the building was well maintained, rents were reasonable, and they worked with us as our business grew — even helping us move into larger office spaces twice. It was a positive, professional landlord-tenant relationship. Once Heard Building took over, conditions deteriorated quickly. On multiple occasions, air-conditioning problems went unaddressed for days at a time, making our office effectively unusable. Despite an extremely high vacancy rate in the building, Heard Building attempted to increase our rent. That decision ultimately forced me to relocate my office to a nearby high-rise with more stable management and better pricing. To make matters worse, Heard Building is now refusing to return security deposits tenants paid to Expansive, relying on dubious legal theories to justify keeping tenant funds instead of doing the right thing. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution any prospective tenants to think carefully before leasing from Heard Building. There are many better options in the neighborhood.

We had the best experience with The Heard Building for our social club event gathering. Natalie was super helpful and incredibly easy to work with. We can't wait to come back and host another event here, thank you so much!!

I hosted an arts & crafts event here and had a wonderful experience. From the inquiry process to clean up after the event, the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly The building is in the heart of Phoenix, making it a perfect meet up spot and the suite we were in was exactly what we needed. Access to the building was simple for our guests and there were zero safety concerns.

Book Launch location was lovely but was difficult to find at first and parking was challenging.
