Stopped in for a quick bite and coffee before our market, food was pretty good, breakfast sandwich needed a sauce and some better vegetarian protein

Popular local hangout with an inviting vibe and friendly counter staff. It’s consistently bustling, which adds to the energy. You walk in expecting a simple cafe and instead discover an impressive wine collection—a true hidden gem. Coffee and food are solid, though not the main attraction.

I’ve been frequenting this location for the last 8 years and I’ve watched the quality decline steadily enough that I felt the need to post this review. The staff is very sweet, but it’s apparent that their training is lacking. Food and drink prep areas are covered in dirty dishes and uncovered food/drinks, with cross contamination rampant, even going as far as to prepare drinks right at that cash register. There’s a clear lack of organization as well. You will wait 20 minutes for two simple cold drinks when there is no line. The staff doesn’t seem to have a sense of urgency and will ignore you. Again, they’re very sweet but it just feels like they’re not getting training in food service skills like they should be. The smell of the building has become unbearable. I don’t know if it’s poor ventilation, but there’s a very stale odor of long since brewed coffee and old food about the place that will stick to your hair and clothes. It’s to an almost nauseating level. I rarely dine in for this reason, as well as the fact that tables here are always sticky and covered in crumbs. The food and drinks are hit or miss. Food ranges from undercooked and soggy to overdone and burnt. Drinks, similarly, feel haphazardly thrown together. It wasn’t always this way but I’d say I’ve seen a noticeable decline in the last two years especially. Barriques ownership and management: please invest more time into properly training your staff at this location. It is by far the worst location and it doesn’t have to be. A deep clean and some food service training refreshers would go a very long way.

Nice ambience, Great coffee, hot chocolate and wine selection. Kitchen is average. Service is slooooowww. Staff seems very engaged with each other, customers not so much.
