A Warning to All Non-Profits and Small Businesses: Avoid Regus at Smith Tower at All Costs If you are looking for a professional, ethical, and supportive environment for your business, especially if you are a non-profit, look absolutely anywhere other than the Regus at Smith Tower. Our experience with them has been characterized by predatory business practices and a complete lack of basic human decency. Do not be fooled by the prestige of the Smith Tower address or the "flexible workspace" marketing. Behind the historic facade is a ruthless corporate machine designed to trap you in auto-renewing contracts and nickel-and-dime you for services you never requested. Here is what you can actually expect when you sign a lease with Regus: The Auto-Renewal Trap: Regus employs a predatory auto-renewal policy that is intentionally difficult to escape. They sent their renewal "confirmation" emails, from an address that went straight to our spam folder. Despite having a clear, documented verbal history with their on-site management team stating we did not intend to renew, they refused to let us out of the contract. They hid behind the fine print, entirely ignoring the reality of the situation. Zero Grace or Compromise for Non-Profits: You might think a massive global corporation would have an ounce of understanding or flexibility for a non-profit organization whose funds go directly back into the community. You would be wrong. They have been completely ruthless over a technicality. When we attempted to negotiate and find a middle ground, they flatly refused to offer a single compromise. There was no option to pay an Early Termination Fee (ETF), no offer for a short-term lease extension, absolutely nothing. They demanded their pound of flesh without hesitation. They offered absolutely nothing and refused to even move the communication past the local office manager at first. Phantom Charges and Unrequested Services: If the auto-renewal trap isn't enough, be prepared to have your invoices padded when you sign on. They signed us up for numerous paid services when we first arrived that we did not ask for. Regus relies on the fact that organizations will eventually just give up and pay. They use deceptive practices to lock you in, ignore your intent, and prioritize their bottom line over any standard of professional ethics. Save your organization the headache, the financial drain, and the immense stress. Find a local, independently owned coworking space or a landlord who operates with integrity. Regus at Smith Tower is a predatory operation that should be avoided at all costs. As an aside: Elizabeth was great. I assume her hands are tied by corporate.

My private small office in the Smith Tower is my happy, creative space. What a lovely view from the 15th-floor window, and Elizabeth the receptionist on the 14th floor signs for my deliveries and drops them in my office when I’m away. The percs are nice too: gym with included towel service, coffee machine, fridge, microwave. And all in a landmark Seattle building with so much history. Makes me want to stay at work longer every day.
