Location and exterior of building are amazing but hotel massively needs an update. Hallway carpets, dirty and stained. The rooms are unclean, bathroom towels old, flimsy, walls in our room were dusty, a/c would not turn off - even though it was in off mode; bathroom door that had to be yanked shut. Horrible experience. As a Marriott loyalty member it was appalling. I have stay at many Marriott’s and this is the worst. Will not stay here ever again.

Where can I start with the Residence Inn? I don't know. I just know that from the moment that I set foot in the front door, they were very cordial. Special recognition to Pam. She was very helpful to getting me checked in. Thanks also go to the housekeeping and breakfast staff for their cordiality. The rooms are a great value and very well appointed with everything that either a business or leisure traveler requires. Food is always a significant expense. So in retrospect, I was glad to have gotten the kitchenette. It saved a significant amount of money. I should also mention that the Residence Inn on Duke Street is a direct 10-minute walk down Diagonal Street from the King Street Metro/Amtrak Alexandria station. Additionally if you are someone who enjoys jazz standards as I do, LaPorta's Restaurant is next door to the hotel and has entertainment seven nights a week. For what I paid, all of these attributes make the Residence Inn on Duke Street a superb value. I think that from now on it will be my home away from home when I must be in the DMV.
