Kinship is such an inspiring space for anyone creative. Gaia, in her serial-entrepreneur way, built something truly special here, where every detail is carefully and tastefully designed to inspire with warmth. Even though I’m not in the fashion world, I’ll be working here on my own projects from time to time. There’s something about Gaia’s energy, her experience, and the community she brings together that just lifts you up. I’m genuinely so happy to see this vision come to life right in the heart of Portland!

TL;DR: Kinship is my happy place. The space is beautiful, the tools are aplenty and the vibes are immaculate. Having access to industrial tools—sewing machines, irons, sergers and cutting tables—is a game changer. And you'll want to be instant friends with Gaia, the founder. Definitely visit!

Kinship Studio is such a thoughtful and welcoming space for makers. From the moment I walked in, Gaia made me feel completely at ease as a newcomer to design and sewing — patient, encouraging, and genuinely supportive. The community is creative and collaborative, and having access to professional equipment like industrial sewing machines is amazing. The space itself is clean, inspiring, and full of people who care about each other’s work. Kinship has been exactly the space I’ve needed as a fashion entrepreneur who is just starting out. It’s great having access to industrial sewing machines to keep my skills up while I freelance. And the huge cutting tables are a game changer for me too. No more cutting out patterns on the floor! The conference room space has also been the perfect size for the monthly drawing night I host.
At 1121 Southeast 2nd Avenue, Meeting Rooms can be booked by the hour. For those looking for a workspace for an entire day, Day Passs are also available. In addition, Coworking Memberships can also be booked on a monthly basis.
Most, if not all, amenities are available to you as a member, regardless of the type of membership. Some shared spaces, like the meeting rooms, need to be booked in advance and private offices are only available for those with a subscription. However, all the other areas, like the lounge, kitchen and breakout spaces, are usable by every member. All complimentary services are available and anything ancillary can be purchased or negotiated with Kinship.
The open desk is the way to go if you’re looking for a flexible workspace in an open environment where you can socialize with other members. Or, choose a dedicated desk if you want a designated space that also allows you to keep in touch with the community.
A private office works wonders if you or your team need a quiet, secluded space to conduct your work and interact with people in your organization.
