Rev1 Ventures - 1275 Kinnear Road

I’m sharing my experience with Rev1’s Concept to Customer Bootcamp because I think entrepreneurs considering the program should understand how my situation was handled. On September 14, I received an email telling me that my company, Vibing Events, had been selected for the October 2026 Concept to Customer Bootcamp. The program required three full program days, including two in-person days, plus customer discovery work between sessions. As a small business owner, participating meant rearranging my work schedule and blocking off three full business days. I did miss the original September 16 confirmation deadline. I take responsibility for that. However, when I contacted Rev1 afterward, I was told that they could still accommodate me in the October cohort. Naturally, I took that to mean there was still an opportunity for me to participate. Instead of simply confirming or declining my participation at that point, I was asked to reconfirm that I could attend all three program days, complete the work between sessions, and stay on top of email communications. Because I had already blocked those dates off for the program, I was trying to get a firm answer so I could make decisions for my business. On September 23, I was then informed that Rev1 had decided not to add me to the cohort. Their explanation referenced both my missed confirmation deadline and the way I had communicated during the subsequent conversations. That was the most frustrating part of the experience. If missing the original deadline meant my acceptance was no longer valid, I believe that should have been communicated clearly when I reached back out. Instead, I was told there was still space, asked additional questions about my ability to participate, and left believing the situation was still being worked out. I also found it disappointing that what began as a scheduling and confirmation issue ultimately became a judgment about my communication style. I understand that organizations have deadlines and expectations, and I have no problem being held accountable for missing the original deadline. What I expected in return was equally clear communication about whether I actually had a place in the program. For an organization whose mission involves supporting entrepreneurs, I expected the process to be handled with more clarity, consistency, and professionalism. I’m sharing this review because other founders should know that my experience did not match the level of communication and professionalism I expected from Rev1.

The front desk staff is deplorable. The website states that this is a co-working space so I went there to inquire for my startup manufacturing company. The woman at the front desk was so rude and incompetent. I told her I have a manufacturing company in the petcare space and some how she got the impression I wanted to open a hair salon… major racial profiling if you ask me. I came to inquire about Rev1 because I saw the CEO speak at the Ohio Aerospace Conference and the Angel Capital Association conference. The values that was shared at both of these events was in no way shown by the desk staff.

Average at best, much better supporting firms in town to look at working with first.

I recently [10-14-2021] attended a "Central Ohio Regional Assessment on Aging" event, hosted by Age-Friendly Columbus, at Rev1 Ventures, 1275 Kinnear Rd. Approximately fifteen of us gathered in "The Main Conference Room" [in the center of the building], responded to a series of questions, and also spoke with each other as well as with the two Age-Friendly Columbus staff members who had been facilitating that event. Rev1 Ventures is a very-nicely-designed building -- with many interesting interior spaces -- that appears to be used by a variety of organizations. I actually know very little about that building because I have attended only one event there. But I had been so impressed by the interior design of Rev1 Ventures that I decided to take a picture of the space immediately outside of "The Main Conference Room" and then post it to Google Maps. On 10-22-2021, a different group of us from Age-Friendly Columbus [both seniors and non-seniors] did a "walk audit" in the section of Kinnear Rd. that is immediately outside of Rev1 Ventures. We walked around -- back and forth -- on Kinnear Rd. -- for 1½ hours -- looking for "infrastructure" issues [for example, sidewalks, curb ramps, pedestrian crossings, etc.] that would impact the ability of older adults and people with disabilities to walk in that area. I will not list here any of the "infrastructure" things that our group had found on Kinnear Rd. because none of those things had been inside of the building of which this is a review.
