So far it’s been a pretty decent place to pop in and work. Its biggest advantage is the location, as it’s one of the only coworking spaces in the UES. There are spots downtown that include more amenities for about the same price but this spot is unbeatable for those living in the UES who don’t want to add a downtown commute. They over-promise on a few things in the beginning, and their AC is pretty awful if you’re working after hours on a hot day (careful if you have asthma), but if you’re looking for a clean and convenient place to cowork in the UES it meets most needs.

I used the Commons for a while and it was a great experience. The price, the location, the team managing the space, overall mood and vibe of the place is nice. They do community events throughout the month and those are fun!! I highly recommend Commons.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Flexibility is the cornerstone of coworking, so you always have the option to adjust your workspace to match your current needs. With month-to-month memberships, you can effortlessly upgrade, downgrade, or even switch between different coworking plans.

While the standard practice is to change memberships only once the current one ends, The Commons may be able to offer additional options, so it’s best to reach out to their staff directly.

  • The Commons - NYC is open during regular business hours listed above. For any other requirements, make sure to contact the operator directly.

  • At The Commons - NYC, you can book a Meeting Room for a flexible hourly rate. For those who require a workspace for an entire day, Meeting Rooms are also available.

  • The open desk is the way to go if you’re looking for a flexible workspace in an open environment where you can socialize with other members. Or, choose a dedicated desk if you want a designated space that also allows you to keep in touch with the community.

A private office works wonders if you or your team need a quiet, secluded space to conduct your work and interact with people in your organization.

It’s important to understand the different types of coworking arrangements available to you, depending on the type of work that you do and its duration, and whether you’re a solo worker or part of a team.

  • Most, if not all, amenities are available to you as a member, regardless of the type of membership. Some shared spaces, like the meeting rooms, need to be booked in advance and private offices are only available for those with a subscription. However, all the other areas, like the lounge, kitchen and breakout spaces, are usable by every member. All complimentary services are available and anything ancillary can be purchased or negotiated with The Commons.
