Was hoping for a great experience. Sadly, was not to be.
A beautiful space, but unfortunately, that's where the positives stopped.
The screen projection capabilities were awful. Each presenter required an additional ten minutes of tech support to connect, usually resulting in the location manager having to reset the internet router. Why we were forced to connect through zoom rooms vs the industry standard apple screen mirroring is beyond me.
In some cases, the speakers/presenters couldn't load their presentations at all, forcing some presenters to give their talks blind, without the presentations they worked for weeks to build. This reflected poorly on both the speakers as we as myself and my partner as the conference producer.
Despite being promised more than once that they had PC and Mac adaptors for the "clickers" to move the presentations, we were presented with one USB v1 stick, not the USBc format, which is now standard on 75% of PCs and 100% of all Mac laptops sold in the last five years. As such, every presenter had to manually scroll their presentations (when they were able to present at all) and in some cases, call for "next slide."
Both wireless microphones died within two hours of our event start, and we had to pause while we found the location manager who then had to get us new batteries.
Overall, for the amount of money we spent on the space for the day, this felt like amateur hour. I've produced multiple conferences, and while small hiccups are expected, this was one consistent problem after another. Again, all of these easily avoidable issues reflected very poorly on my conference, on me, and on my staff.
The absolute worst part? I reached out to the owner of Jay Suites, Juda with my complaints. He responded with "let me look into it." He then ghosted me, ignoring all future emails from me. Not a good look at all.
Would NOT recommend. Would NOT use again under any circumstances.
