I have been a WeWork member for about a year and a half, and during that time my membership cost has increased by approximately 130% compared to my first month. When I initially joined, I benefited from a single-location membership at the Financial District location. That option was later discontinued by WeWork, and members were automatically moved to an All Access plan, which resulted in a significant price increase. While I understood this as a business decision, it was already a major financial adjustment, especially as a freelancer. More recently, I was contacted by an account executive, Kern Byrnes, informing me that my membership was expiring and needed renewal. When I attempted to renew, I noticed another price increase, with no explanation or added services. I reached out by email to ask for clarification before renewing. Unfortunately, I never received a response. I followed up once more, again without any reply. This lack of communication felt unprofessional, particularly for a company that promotes values like community and member support. As a small independent professional, a 130% increase in monthly costs is substantial. It’s difficult to justify such increases without transparency, improved services, or any added value. If I were to double my own clients’ fees without explanation or improvements, it would understandably be unacceptable. At this point, the only reason I am maintaining my membership is the convenience of the location near my home. Beyond that, there is nothing particularly distinctive or engaging about the space—it feels quite impersonal. I have also regularly seen mice running under desks, which may not bother everyone, but is worth mentioning for those who might be sensitive to such issues. I genuinely wish I could highlight more positive aspects, but my experience has been that of a functional yet soulless workspace, lacking the community spirit that is so often advertised.

Beautiful building, great location, but horrible layout for a WeWork. Between the lack of a common quiet room, absolutely no barriers in common rooms to break up the noise, and the speakers blaring music you may as well be trying to get some work done at the Brooklyn Mirage.

After two months of membership, I’ve weighed the pros and cons and can share my experience: Pros: 1) You can choose any WeWork location (from 4 options or even from all worldwide, depending on your membership level). This flexibility is convenient and adds variety to the work routine. 2) The spaces themselves are fantastic—both in terms of design and amenities (kitchens, work areas, multiple floors, relaxation rooms, good internet, plenty of outlets, etc.). 3) There are plenty of phone booths and meeting rooms, which is a big plus. Other coworking spaces usually have fewer booths, and they are often less private and comfortable. 4) Free tea, coffee, community events, and sometimes sweet treats are always a nice bonus. 5) The reception managers are very responsive, always ready to help, and provide guidance in a polite and friendly manner. Cons: 1) Working hours. Some WeWork locations open at 8:00 AM, others at 6:00 AM. Almost none are 24/7, which was inconvenient for me. I sometimes have meetings with Europe at 7:00 AM, so I was limited to the one WeWork that opens at 6:00 AM. 2) The system for booking phone booths is very inconvenient. Every morning, you have to approach a community manager, tell them what time you need a booth, and they’ll write down your reservation on a piece of paper. It’s extremely inconvenient and inflexible. You can’t choose which booth is most convenient for you, check availability, etc. 3) A significant issue is that phone booths are often occupied without a reservation, and people just don’t leave. You might have a critical meeting at 12:00 PM, arrive at the booth, and the person inside will just ignore you and continue their call. You’ll either have to insist (which isn’t always comfortable and takes time while your important call is already starting) or quickly think of an alternative, sometimes starting your call in the hallway. This is more of a human factor issue, and it’s unlikely the coworking space can do much about it, but it’s something to be aware of. 4) The system for canceling membership and making payments is not very transparent. Canceling your membership requires a lot of effort. You’ll also find out that you need to do this five business days before the end of the month, and on the 1st, you’ll be charged again. It’s inconvenient and not very transparent. There are pros and cons, so I’m giving a neutral rating of 3 stars. However, I must note that this was still the best choice for me in terms of value for money and accessibility. All other coworking spaces in NYC seemed less suitable.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Whether you're a day pass holder or a monthly member, you can access most amenities. Meeting rooms do require prior scheduling, and private offices are reserved for those with subscriptions. However, the lounge, kitchen, and breakout spaces are open to all. Complimentary services are also available regardless of membership tier, while ancillary services can be purchased separately or negotiated with WeWork Companies LLC ILS.

  • Adaptability is at the core of coworking, so membership options are always designed to cater to your changing work requirements and team dynamics. Most spaces offer month-to-month memberships, enabling you to adjust your workspace to your changing needs. Whether your business is growing or downsizing – or you just want to upgrade to a more private setting – you always have the flexibility to make the changes you need.

While your membership agreement may have specific terms regarding changes, don’t hesitate to reach out to WeWork Companies LLC ILS to discuss accommodating your adjustments.

  • Coworking spaces typically have limited storage options, most of which are reserved for members with dedicated desks or private offices. With that said, it’s best to contact the coworking operator directly via the form on the right side of the page to learn about available storage options.

  • For spontaneous collaboration and interaction, open desks provide an open and flexible environment. If you prefer a dedicated space with shared community elements, dedicated desks offer a great balance between personal space and interaction.

On the other hand, private offices are best suited for focused work and private interactions. They're ideal for solo workers as well as teams seeking a dedicated space, shielded from distractions.

Choosing the ideal coworking arrangement for you is about aligning your workspace with your work style, team dynamics, and project requirements.

  • Want to get a feel for the workspace before signing up? Schedule a tour to experience 115 Broadway and envision your workday in this dynamic environment. All you need to do is fill out this form, indicating your preferred date and time, and we'll be happy to host you.
