They went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I need, this place always comes in handy when I’m in town, highly recommend

If all you need is a desk and Wi-Fi in a great part of Ithaca, then CommonSpot suits the bill. Anything other than that, and it falls completely flat. The space itself was a ghost town: I hardly ever saw another soul, the water cooler would be dry for days, and the printer sat disconnected in the corner. Likewise, the space manager rarely showed up when he said he would; didn't answer emails; would send urgent, unsigned text messages; was months late issuing invoices, compounding the financial burden of the holidays; and would remind me to pay even when I already had. Set your expectations for a lack of communication and accommodation accordingly.

Wonderful space! I got to check the space out during Gallery Night. Gorgeous artwork and I got to meet the artist! Clean and comfy offices for coworking, meetings, etc. So glad that Ithaca has this amenity!

I have used the common spot for 5 years or so, off and on as needed when I’m in the area. It’s easy to book with Bob (check online) and set up and access are straightforward too. I love that there is a kitchen available, and some communal lounging space. The new location (just steps from the commons) is well-designed and convenient, just steps from the Commons.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Most coworking space amenities are open to all members, regardless of the membership plan. Meeting rooms require prior reservation, and private offices are exclusively available to those with subscription packages. However, the lounge, kitchen, and breakout spaces are open to everyone. Complimentary amenities are also available to all, while ancillary services can be purchased or negotiated individually with The CommonSpot.

  • Storage in coworking spaces can be limited, with most of it reserved for members with dedicated desks and private offices. However, you can reach out to the coworking operator using the form on the right side of the page to see what options are currently available.

  • Open desks may be the ideal choice if you thrive in a collaborative environment and value the opportunity to connect with fellow coworkers. Dedicated desks, on the other hand, provide a designated space with shared community amenities, catering to those who seek a balance between privacy and interaction.

For ultimate focus and private interactions, private offices are best for solo individuals and teams that seek uninterrupted productivity.

Selecting the most suitable workspace for you typically hinges on your work style and preferences, but it can also be determined by the type of work that you do, its duration, and whether you work alone or in a team.

  • Absolutely. Flexibility is one of the best parts of coworking. Most coworking memberships are month-to-month, so you can quickly adjust your space preferences according to your unique requirements and the size of your team. Whether that means upgrading the space or downsizing it or even completely changing the type of coworking subscription that you use, you always have the option to adjust as you go.

It may be possible to adjust your membership before current membership ends, but you will have to discuss and negotiate directly with The CommonSpot, who is more than happy to help out.

  • Yes, you can certainly take a tour of the space before signing up for a membership. In fact, it’s encouraged, to help you get a feel for what your workday will look like. Schedule a tour here by filling out the form along with the date and time when you would like to visit the space and we’ll see you there.
