We created a welcoming third space where we can get out of our homes to work, study, meet and connect - right here in Montclair, NJ.

A space that prioritized community as much as coworking. A space where we can work and play, relax and recharge. A space where we’d actually want to spend the day. A space that’s accessible and inclusive to all.

Our space is inside Lackawanna Plaza, a historic former train station in Montclair, NJ. The plaza is full of open spaces, bright light and good energy, with high walkability to many shops & restaurants downtown.

Our space is a 3-minute drive or 10-minute walk to the NJ Transit station at Bay Street.

We have burgers, donuts, the Montclair Flea, food trucks, and other Lackawanna Station shops right outside our door.

Inside Lackawanna Station, on the corner of Bloomfield Ave and Grove Street. We’ll be the first door on the right when you walk in from the main entrance. Please check in with our Community Associate at the front desk.

We have hosted two events in this space. The vibe is immaculate. The staff is super accommodating, and the vibe puts our guests at ease. For the first event, we reserved a room to host interviews. Second, we rented the entire space for 5 hours. The rate was great, and they had everything we needed. Our guests were so impressed by the space. Personally, will be using it for regular co-working space during the summer while the kids are home.

So here's the thing. I made a decision in the last year that I no longer wanted to work inside my house, but working at coffee houses wasn't practical. I NEEDED a space where I could go regularly and actually get real work done. Enter RECROOM. When I learned this co-working space was on the horizon, and that it was going to be run by Michelle Ward, an entrepreneurial legend, I was one of the first to join and get a dedicated desk. How lucky I am to have this place! We tend to think that productivity is about willpower. The right app, the perfect morning routine, the discipline to sit down and grind into oblivion. But here's what's interesting:it might have almost nothing to do with you, and almost everything to do with the room you're sitting in. I've been here as a dedicated regular, and what stands out isn't any single perk. The natural light, the historic Lackawanna station setting, the phone booth, and the downtown Montclair location are a tremendous value. But more than that, it's a space deliberately built so that a freelancer, a founder, and someone three careers into a pivot all end up sharing a table and, occasionally, an idea. That, for me, is priceless. I've done some of my best work here and look forward to doing much more. So please, come on in. Stay awhile. Hang up your hat. Get a locker. And do great work. P.S. I recently hosted an event at the Rec Room and had a great experience. It’s a beautiful space with a welcoming atmosphere. Michelle and her team were wonderful to work with. They helped promote the event and made the logistics side feel easy. I highly recommend the Rec Room whether you’re hosting an event or just looking for a place to work around other people for the day.

Events & CoWorking at RecRoom: I've had the pleasure of both and highly recommend taking advantage. Hosting an event: The kind and endlessly helpful RecRoom team made our event easy and stress-free. Their experience staging events of all sizes ensured a great layout, and thoughtful execution. And they shared on their social to complement the marketing and messaging our group put on. RecRoom is so flexible, so while it can hold up to 80 people, our mid-size event still felt perfectly comfortable and right-sized. It's my first choice for future events. CoWorking: I swear I'm more productive here than anywhere else. With space to lock in and tune everything else out, or clear your head with a quick chat and tea break, this is my favorite coworking spot (and I've tried plenty.) Everything you need, plus lovely people coworking their hearts out, and a fantastic team delivering great energy all day long.
