I called to inquire about an apartment I saw online. I wanted to see if they allow co-signers. The man I talked to said he’s not crazy about them. He said “I like people who are responsible for themselves.” Having a co-signer doesn’t make you not responsible for yourself. I have great credit. I have never been evicted or paid a bill late. I just don’t make three times the rent which most places want you to make. That doesn’t mean I can’t afford the rent. He didn’t even try to ask why I would need a co-signer.
