Unfortunately, I have to give this local coffee shop 2 star because of the drink I had. I ordered a large coconut matcha frappe with strawberry sweetener. It was 9 dollars and I tipped 2. The barista was very nice and fast, but it was bad. That's not their fault. It's the ingredients. I should have known when I saw Monin syrup. The matcha was bad quality. It was grainy, bitter, and completely oxidized. I even had other people try it to make sure I wasn't just being fussy after working in the coffee industry for 8 years. I really tried to enjoy it, but there was no other flavor strong enough to mask the nastiness of the matcha. I had to throw the last half away, I could not force myself to drink it even just for the caffeine. I never step foot in Starbucks anymore, but at least their matcha in years past was edible even if it wasn't the best quality. Local cafes should have better quality ingredients considering the higher prices. I never mind paying around 10 dollars for a drink when it is good quality and I am supporting a local business. This was not worth it. Also, I used to be able to count on a barista to be honest with me about what drink is better when I ask. They had suggested the strawberry after I had asked if they had lavender syrup so I expected that to be from personal experience, but there is no way that literally anyone could have enjoyed that drink. I know the people working here have to support the product due to customer service, but I would have a warning that the matcha wasn't the best. Maybe they have serviceable coffee. I'm certainly not going to try to find out after this disappointing experience. No wonder the cafe was empty with no personality, I don't think the management care about the product or aesthetic at all.
I used to love this coffee shop, but I guess they don’t care about customers who drink decaf anymore. They used to make a fresh pot (even if it came with a bit of attitude 😅), but today I was simply told, “No, sorry.” That’s disappointing. It may be just one customer, but good service is about caring, even when it’s only one person. ☕️💔
Great coffee, friendly staff!
I’ve been meaning to visit Coffee and Bark since they opened their Hazel Park location. Honestly, I'm impressed. I stopped by yesterday morning to pick up coffee for myself and my friend. I’m usually a chia latte girl, but I felt adventurous and ordered an iced white chocolate mocha with whipped cream and a vanilla oat latte for my friend. It was the most delicious coffee I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is calm. The baristas are friendly, and the establishment is clean overall. I may come back to work remotely at the cafe to get out of the house more.
Coffee is great, staff is great. Food is pre-packaged but it's good. Definitely the best coffee shop around.
