I have been going to MVP Sportsplex consistently for over 4 years and generally have the same routine. Use cardio machines, then use the weights and circuit weights on my lunch at least 4 days a week. I think it started this year where the turf that holds all of the weights for the rest of the gym is closed for a class. I tried justifying keeping the membership and seeing if there were ways around, but at the end of the day it's hard to justify a $150 a month membership for an individual when you can't take full advantage of the basics of a gym. I finally cancelled today when I had to go to another gym to finish up my routine. The Red Water gym offers a membership for $40 a year. Also, the staff don't really care if you cancel or not.

I was so excited when I saw they have a pool only membership, BUT THEN… I saw its $1000 for a season. Like what???? Its cheaper to pay for a membership the just the pool. That is crazy

I canceled my membership after repeatedly running into the same issue: there is no reliable access to the pool. For $122 a month, I expect to be able to come in and actually swim. Instead, I found myself walking in, changing clothes, and then standing around hoping a lane would open up. Lanes are frequently taken or blocked off for private lessons, and there is no system in place to ensure members have access. On top of that, there seems to be inconsistent enforcement of basic pool etiquette. During a recent visit, another swimmer jumped into my lane without any communication, even though staff later confirmed that sharing lanes during busy times should still involve acknowledgment first. I don’t mind sharing a lane when necessary, but I do expect organization, communication, and a reasonable opportunity to use the amenities I’m paying for. Without a reservation system or clearer structure around lane usage, the experience feels unpredictable and frustrating. If you rely on the pool as part of your routine, just be aware that access is not guaranteed.
