We've got to build up downtown Chicago again! The Chi is a world-class city! 🫡

Spaces at 1 N. State Street maybe have a professional office interior and appear to be an excellent price. However, the company behind Spaces is Regus with the most unethical and deceptive practices and the most incompetent back office. We just moved out and it was not because of the building, office or cost. Every since Regus took over from The Pitch (10/2024) the service, cleanliness and back office has been terrible. Every month they billed me for the wrong amount(always higher) and they could not get it together. Finally after over charging me for 5 months they could not figure out how to refund me the over payment so one of the community managers had to give me an envelope of cash to work around their incompetent back office. Shortly there after we moved within the same Spaces Suite. Once we moved they continued to charge me for our new office and the one we vacated. They would auto debit us and it took 4-5 weeks to get my money back. After three months they sent a lease renewal and demanded either a 1 year commitment or a higher month to month payment. We are finally done (moved out 11-20) and I am considering filing litigation against them. The building is great, the executive suite is great, the reception team is great but the back office is terrible. Do not get lulled into their low rates and their network of 6000 offices. They do not return phone calls and only service you via email. The community management will not advocate for their tenants. I spend more time reconciling their back office errors and following up on my over charges that moving to a more expensive office became necessary. Regus is buying so many local coworking spaces that our number one priority was not going to a place managed by Regus. Think twice before you go to them because working with Regus will cost you more time and money.

EDIT: The Pitch was acquired by Spaces within the last year and since then, the quality has gone downhill. The customer service has dropped, things break without being fixed, and there are no more events or a sense of community. The best thing about this space for our company was the 12 individual phone booths for meetings, and now people park their stuff in the phone booths all day and then just watch golf on their phones, but management doesn't do anything about it so the rest of us don't have phone booths to use, as people are treating them as their personal offices. This was the kicker for us to leave Spaces and find new office space downtown. Five stars - Our company has been using the space at The Pitch for two years now and it’s been one of the best coworking spaces that I have used in Chicago! Great amenities, fun events, and the front desk folks are incredibly helpful and lovely. Separate call rooms and conference rooms make Zoom calls and larger in person meetings a cinch, and the main coworking area is generally not too loud or distracting.

This place was incredible when it was managed by "The Pitch". It has gone downhill ever since "Spaces" took it over. The space itself is solid - it has just about everything you would need for a coworking space. However, since "Spaces" took over - the staff is a lot less involved, coffee/ice machines often do not work and there are no more fun community events for members. Because of this, my company decided to move to a different coworking space a few months after "Spaces" started managing it.
