Grand House - 840 West Grand Avenue

This was a very nice hostel, I got the private deluxe suite with the kitchen right outside the room. Bedroom was nice, bathroom and kitchen is shared with one other room, so most of the time you get to use the space by yourself. Staff was very helpful/ good communication!

Really disappointing experience, mainly because of how poorly the parking situation was handled and how little help we received from the staff. We arrived around 11:40 PM and were told to park behind a white car because the vehicle next to us was supposedly going to be moved. However, it wasn’t until around 12:10 AM that anyone actually asked the owner to move it. The cars were parked so closely that we couldn’t even get out of our vehicle, despite having already paid for a parking pass. Things became even more frustrating when another guest arrived about 10 minutes later and was allowed to park immediately while we were still waiting. I had to ask the staff three separate times when we would finally be able to get inside and get some sleep. After being stuck in our car for over 30 minutes late at night, I also asked if anything could be done to make up for the inconvenience, but unfortunately, no meaningful accommodation was offered. The parking issue itself was frustrating, but the bigger problem was how it was handled. There was very little communication or urgency, and we felt like our concerns were not being taken seriously. A situation that should have been relatively simple to resolve ended up becoming a very frustrating start to our stay. I would recommend staying elsewhere if reliable parking and responsive customer service are important to you. I also wouldn’t expect much flexibility if something goes wrong during your stay, as the property was unwilling to offer any meaningful refund or compensation despite the circumstances.

However, the owner was not asked to move the vehicle until approximately 12:10 AM. Because the car was parked so closely to us, we were unable to get out of our vehicle during this time. We had also paid for a parking pass, which made the situation even more frustrating. After waiting for 10 minutes, another vehicle arrived, and the staff allowed that guest to park immediately while we were still waiting to be accommodated. I had to ask staff three separate times when we would finally be able to enter and get some rest. I also asked whether any accommodations could be made given that we had been stuck in our vehicle for over 30 minutes, but unfortunately, nothing was done to address the inconvenience. Overall, the parking situation was extremely poorly managed, and the staff did not seem to take our concerns seriously. I would strongly recommend reconsidering staying here if reliable parking and responsive customer service is important to you. Additionally, based on our experience, do not expect much flexibility regarding refunds or partial compensation if an issue occurs during your stay. The property was unwilling to offer any meaningful accommodation despite the circumstances.

Great place for a nice quite stay. Good neighbor hood easy to get to places. Clean rooms n cameras for safety. Enjoy ur stay.
