I come here *despite* the music. They do a good job making this place run and have obviously distilled it into a science. But, there's a glaring issue with the music. I emailed them about it when they first opened and I see other reviews commenting negatively on the music as well. The music issue is two-fold. One is volume and the other is selection. I don't know what AI algo they have curating it but it's literally all over the place - and not in a good way. It goes from chill instrumental vibes, to Bruce Springsteen classics, to indie folk, to music from India in Hindi, to funk, and on and on - all within an hour. It fails to create a lovely vibe for one to exist in because the vibe keeps changing. Here's what doesn't make sense - they took into account every visual and functional detail of curating a cohesive space with an intentional vibe, but the music (which is a critical part of creating ambience) just works against it. Sadly, my noise cancelling headphones don't solve this problem completely, and if you want to be in the quiet room, it's dark and cold versus light and airy like the rest of the space. If they fix even just the horrible AI algo that curates this music, I'd shut up about the volume. I encourage the investors/owners to reconsider the source of the "playlist" and select an option that contributes to and supports the visual environment that they've clearly worked so hard to create. Many of the people who are drawn to the Switchyards brand would also deeply appreciate a soundtrack to get with as well.

Love this place so far, and come here a couple times a week. Distractions are low, coffee is good, and the location is amazing. The only thing preventing a 5 star is that the music inside, which i believe is intended to drown out conversations, is itself a bit too loud. Even with noise cancelling people can hear it over me on calls when I talk.

I travel often and have been a member of various collective work spaces around the world. I signed up for Switchyard Savannah as soon as I saw that it was opening. It has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, and and excellent brand identity. However, the noise inside never ends. Even though the company sends several emails about not having loud conversation in the work spaces and provides meeting rooms and phone booths people chat away without any regards to the person sitting right next to them. I am currently listening to a conversation about people's kids across the room. The music is also a bit loud. While it is a lovely space, with a lot of potential, as it is, it's just an over priced coffee shop, and that's solely due to the people not using the space for what it is designed for, and there's no staff around to provide some kind of control over the noise level.
At 217 East 41st Street, Coworking Memberships can be booked on a monthly basis.
Yes, you can certainly take a tour of the space before signing up for a membership. In fact, it’s encouraged, to help you get a feel for what your workday will look like. Reach out here to set up a time to come and see the space.
Storage in coworking spaces can be limited, with most of it reserved for members with dedicated desks and private offices. However, you can reach out to the coworking operator using the form on the right side of the page to see what options are currently available.
Absolutely. Flexibility is one of the best parts of coworking. Most coworking memberships are month-to-month, so you can quickly adjust your space preferences according to your unique requirements and the size of your team. Whether that means upgrading the space or downsizing it or even completely changing the type of coworking subscription that you use, you always have the option to adjust as you go.
It may be possible to adjust your membership before current membership ends, but you will have to discuss and negotiate directly with Switchyards, who is more than happy to help out.
Most, if not all, amenities are available to you as a member, regardless of the type of membership. Some shared spaces, like the meeting rooms, need to be booked in advance and private offices are only available for those with a subscription. However, all the other areas, like the lounge, kitchen and breakout spaces, are usable by every member. All complimentary services are available and anything ancillary can be purchased or negotiated with Switchyards.
