⚠️ Beware — Possible Bait-and-Switch! Carr is closing its Fort Lauderdale office by December 22, 2025.
I signed a one-year lease (with two months rent-free, totaling 14 months) for a branch office and paid nearly $9,000 as a deposit after traveling four hours from our corporate office to tour the space. Only a week later, I received notice that Carr's Fort Lauderdale location is closing and all tenants must vacate by December 22, 2025.
There was no disclosure of this closure when I signed the lease, no corporate contact number or email, and no communication about when my deposit will be refunded. The General Manager has been kind and professional, but clearly kept unaware of the situation.
This feels like a classic bait-and-switch — continuing to lease offices and collect deposits while corporate already knew the location was shutting down. That is unethical, misleading, and unprofessional.
If my deposit is not returned within 10 business days, I will be contacting the following agencies to formally report the matter:
Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) – for deceptive or unfair business practices
Better Business Bureau (BBB) – to document and share this experience publicly
Florida Attorney General’s Office, Consumer Protection Division – for potential misrepresentation and failure to refund
I sincerely hope Carr does the right thing. As it stands, this has been an extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience.
