A wonderful place to connect with other DMV writers! It's great to have more accountability to your writing and a cozy place to work. When I write at the salon- I definitely get more done! And all while in the company of friendly writers!

I have been a member for seven months and absolutely love the space and the community. I can't imagine how further behind I'd be in my writing and creative processes without committing to membership and enjoying all the benefits. Having said that, do be advised that while opportunities for feedback, collaboration, and socializing are built in to a limited extent, you should expect to be proactive and take initiative to really get the most out of it. This has not been an issue for me but it has taken some time and effort. Nonetheless, it is a great space and I've kept and upgraded my membership with no regrets at all.

I've been a member for a few months now, and I'm extremely happy I did. The Salon is an awesome place step away from everything and just write, and the community I've found there has been friendly, accommodating, and welcoming at every step of the way. The diverse array of events and Salon options have something for everyone! Would highly recommend if you're looking for a place to write in DC, no matter your level!

Writing can be a solitary and sometimes slow journey, but Ali has done a wonderful job of building a genuine community of writers. The space feels welcoming and comfortable, a place not just to write but to exchange ideas and learn from others. As a transplant who moved to D.C. knowing no one, I met some great people here. I wasn’t close with everyone, but it was always nice to see familiar faces each month. I was a paid member for over a year, attending about two writing sessions per month along with various events. Movies nights were joyful events. One particularly helpful workshop involved reading our work aloud and offering feedback, which ultimately helped me reshape my book, High School Students Unite!, coming out in December 2025. Unfortunately, my time there ended when I lost my federal contracting job and had to move out of state six months later. Thankfully, Ali graciously let me continue attending sessions for four more months after I canceled my membership in March 2025. I wish I could have celebrated my book release with the group and seen a copy on the fireplace beside other members’ works (I mentioned the group in the acknowledgements), but life happens.
