I've been a member at the Oakland location since January 2024. Groundfloor has been a great space to work, meet good people, make new friends, and host events (I've hosted or co-hosted eight events since I started). And the founders, Jamie and Jermaine, are great.

Unfortunately, I have not had the best experience with Groundfloor. I have a big test coming up this week, and when I signed up for the membership I made it known that I would be using this coworking space to study after hours. Last Wednesday, there was an event going on for about 2.5 hours with kids running around and screaming. Then on Thursday, there was another event where I was asked to move out of the general space and into a small room with the other coworking members, which made it feel really cramped and a lot louder/distracting since all the conversations were concentrated in one small space. Today, on my last weekend before the test, there were two events happening on Sunday, one of which was not even listed on the events calendar. I’m honestly conflicted because I do love community, but this is a coworking space first and foremost. As someone paying a pretty penny to work and study here, I would expect there to be a quiet space to do so, and I would hope Groundfloor would prioritize its paying members over others trying to host events. If they want to host this many events, they really need a bigger, separate space for them. I just wish it had been advertised how many events are hosted in this space because I would say it’s a social/third space first and a coworking place second. I had also mentioned that I would be working here after 5 p.m., and I think it should have been brought up how often events are hosted after hours during the week and on weekends. I saw on the website that the space was available 24/7, but I assumed that meant coworking conditions would be maintained 24/7 as well.

Groundfloor is the best cowork space I've been to. There is a strong community, great events and people are passionate about what they do. Highly recommend joining if you're looking to focus, get good work done and break the ice with good people along the way.

My time at Groundfloor started off amazing, but the decline of this place happened incredibly fast. Their community management team was once robust and incredibly responsive…but as they began opening other locations it became obvious that Oakland was an afterthought. It was not uncommon to show up at 9am to find the doors totally locked. They’ve also severely cut staff hours and have made this place “community” led; which is terrifying. While the vast majority of their members are awesome there were a few bad apples that remained members despite complaints from others. I fear it’s only a matter of time before something escalates for the worst. I miss what Groundfloor use to be and I cannot roll my eyes harder as to how cringe it has become. Save your money and go work at a coffee shop.

While storage in coworking spaces is generally limited, and mostly reserved for members with dedicated desks or private offices, you should always check with the coworking operator about additional storage solutions. Fill out the form on the right side of the page to reach out to them and learn all about the available options.

Open desks may be the ideal choice if you thrive in a collaborative environment and value the opportunity to connect with fellow coworkers. Dedicated desks, on the other hand, provide a designated space with shared community amenities, catering to those who seek a balance between privacy and interaction.
For ultimate focus and private interactions, private offices are best for solo individuals and teams that seek uninterrupted productivity.
Selecting the most suitable workspace for you typically hinges on your work style and preferences, but it can also be determined by the type of work that you do, its duration, and whether you work alone or in a team.
