I've been to over 20 airports across Japan, and I have to warn you that the security checkpoint at Terminal 2 here is the slowest. Your boarding pass is checked again before you line up for your baggage tray. This boarding pass check also wastes time before you enter the security line. Also, before you load your luggage onto the tray, a rope separates each person from the rest, preventing them from getting too close to the tray. The tray checker has to go back and forth attaching and detaching the rope, wasting time. Even though the trays are designed to allow about 4-5 people to load their luggage at a time, the security officer only lets two people through and closes the rope to prevent a third person, which only makes the line longer. Despite this, the security gate beeps, and you have to undo your belt and go through again. They're extremely inefficient. It's understandable that all of your luggage on the tray gets caught (I've never been stopped before), and they have to check the contents, but the line for the trays that require the recheck is also congested, so you end up wasting time waiting for your turn. The extremely poor performance of the staff is a problem. The airport needs to examine the level of the security checkpoint at Centrair (Terminal 2) compared to other airports. Passengers should be careful because the checkpoint takes three to five times longer than usual due to their poor performance.
