If there were an award for “How to Make Travelers Miserable in Record Time,” Guwahati Airport would win hands down.
From the moment you enter, it feels less like an airport and more like a badly managed bus stand with planes attached.
Maintenance? Practically non-existent. Dusty corners, worn-out seating (where you actually find seating), and an overall vibe of “we stopped caring years ago.”
It is chronically overcrowded – too many flights, too little space, zero crowd management. You can barely walk without bumping into someone, forget finding a quiet corner to sit. And even if you do, good luck surviving more than an hour.
Because here comes the best part: NO proper lounge facilities, NO decent waiting areas, and absolutely NO sense of comfort. For an airport serving a major city in Northeast India, this is honestly embarrassing.
And then the real cherry on top: AC and cooling are either symbolic or dead. The terminal feels stuffy, humid and suffocating. In peak hours, it’s like being trapped in a crowded hall with recycled warm air and nowhere to escape.
Dear Guwahati Airport Authority,
This is not “okay for now.” This is not “manageable.” This is a clear failure of basic airport standards. Passengers deserve dignity, comfort and a functional environment - not this daily chaos.
