This was my first time using a co-working space but I really enjoyed the experience. Instead of working from home, or in a noisy coffee shop, the Collar Factory offers professional "loft style" office space, some interesting people to chat to over breaks and a top notch coffee machine & paraphernalia for budding baristas. It's a short walk (10-15 mins) into the town centre for lunch. Definitely worth considering for those getting tired of WFH!
I’ve been working from home and didn’t realise how much I needed a shared workspace like the Collar Factory until I started here! It gives me a clear start and finish to the working day, the buzz of being around others, and those impromptu chats while making a drink. The building itself is bright and welcoming, with big windows and a friendly atmosphere. I highly recommend it.
When it comes to co-working spaces in Taunton, you have the choice between one next to the motorway, a historic building, or one they're still building. Collar Factory is indeed the historic building. I’ve been a member here for 3 years. Starting with a co-working desk, I later migrated to the lounge area. One of the comfy couches is my preferred work spot (ideally I would be in my pants, but noooo, people wouldn’t like that). It also allows me to be closer to the kitchen so hot drinks facilities (a full espresso machine), and leftover food from over-catered events are at my fingertips. I’ve outlasted other members, they didn’t die, they either escaped Taunton, or they migrated into one of the ground floor studios or offices upstairs (they said it wasn’t to escape me, but I find that hard to believe). If you are looking for office space and you like cricket it overlooks the grounds. Be aware that you could get a cricket ball through the window. But who doesn’t like a bit of excitement. Taunton town centre is 10 mins walk, 5 if you’re in a rush. I walk along the canal, through the cricket grounds (dodging security on game days), or in the summer I swim. Making it easy for me to run errands (read, grab coffee, chat to people). So if you’re looking for a space that doesn’t look like the office you used to work in, or you’re fed up with having to do the washing up at lunch time, make use of the free trial. Oh, and bring a dog if you have one, anything to distract me from doing work is a plus.
