Cobalt Studios Ouseburn Newcastle at last! Almost a year to the day after this venue reached out to me with support after the filming ‘incident’ at Fabric London I finally made the visit. Six hours by Megabus from London & over eight hours lol mainly sleeping for the return at 04.25hrs on the Sunday morning. Was I glad to make all that effort to go to this 200 capacity venue? ABSOLUTELY! Just a twenty minute stroll from the bus station at the homely Ernest Cafe Bar (part of the Cobalt venture) & had a cauliflower cheese kebab with a pile of cheesy chips TASTY! supplemented by a Bloody Mary (best ever) Toblerone chocolate cocktail & a double expresso martini. Cobalt: Latrines House of Fun ‘The Alternative Christmas Story’ beyond ’out’rageous. Lol next day after Christmas carols outside on Nunhead Green I shared with the lovely Maria & Polis from The Salvation Army that if they had seen this show they would have required resuscitation! Then Dj Paulette, my sublime 3rd experience of this off the scale Dj since Homobloc (WHP) & The Hacienda Presents (WHP). I absolutely love EVERYTHING about this venue, from the most friendly door check in, all the staff, oh the crowd! Also a rare opportunity to boogie barefoot. Having just one room, ‘less is so much more’ Sound system is right up there with Fabric, sitting in one of the sumptuous sofa’s I was getting a full body massage from the sound. As a venue it is quite unique on so many levels as this much more than just a club venue. To offer a ‘pay what you can afford’ is so thoughtful. Even though the Cobalt team had offered me an any time guest list, Mindful that this is a not for profit venture, I bought my ticket amazing value at £12 total for the show & set. This deserves to be a ‘destination venue.’ Thank you to the team & all the no attitude clubbers for making me feel so welcome. If you are reading this post and have not yet been ‘Cobalted’ & seek a PHONE free experience with top drawer Djs sound lighting and no attitude crowd, JFDI! this is the venue for you.

Amazing community venue they serve amazing food with the weekday gigs and then have some spectacular club nights every weekend it’s a real hidden gem within Newcastle
