I spent a few months working from Mainyard Studios in Mile End and it was a really great experience. I’ve worked from a lot of co-working spaces over the years, and most of them tend to follow the same pattern: people come in, put their heads down, work, and leave without much interaction. This place is very different. Alice, who runs the studio, does an incredible job of creating a genuinely friendly and welcoming environment. There’s a real sense of community there, which is quite rare in co-working spaces. During my time there I met a number of really interesting, talented people, and a few of those connections are ones I’m sure I’ll stay in touch with. It’s a great space to work from, but what really makes it special is the people. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels a bit more human than the typical co-working setup, Mainyard Mile End is definitely worth checking out.

This is my favourite work space so far in London. It has a really friendly atmosphere and I always enjoy my time there. Alice, the office manager, is super helpful and accommodating. Location is also a big bonus. Highly recommended 👍👍

I’ve really enjoyed my time at Mainyard Studios in Mile End. The community vibe is amazing and everyone is friendly and it has a warm, bubbly and diverse feel that’s perfect for small businesses and startups. The space itself has a colourful, hippy style which I love. It’s not one of those corporate, grey, boring offices you see everywhere in London. The location is great too. It’s super easy to get to on public transport and the area has a nice bit of greenery around it, which is great for clearing your mind and doing creative work. Compared to a lot of the narrow, cramped areas you find in London, the place feels it’s located in a much more open and / wide roads/ open sky area. Plus the 24/7 access is a huge bonus A special shoutout to Alice, the office manager. She’s always friendly and genuinely helpful. Whenever I needed extra chairs for meetings, any resources, or even a hoover to tidy up, she was always there and sorted it without any fuss. She really adds to the positive community feel. A couple of things to note: it did get cold in the winter at one point, but they’ve since fixed the heating. And the rooms are on the smaller side, so I wouldn’t recommend it for big organisations or large teams. The meeting room is fine for small groups but not a proper big one. Overall, definitely recommended if you’re looking for a friendly, creative space to work from in East London.

I moved into Mainyard a few years ago, starting with a smaller office with plenty of light, and upgrading a few years later into a bigger, airy space as the company grew. Being in post-production the space is perfect with ample meeting rooms and fast internet speeds. But it's the community that really sells this place. Even though everyone is quite professional, everyone is super friendly and it makes the workdays feel like a breeze.
For spontaneous collaboration and interaction, open desks provide an open and flexible environment. If you prefer a dedicated space with shared community elements, dedicated desks offer a great balance between personal space and interaction.
On the other hand, private offices are best suited for focused work and private interactions. They're ideal for solo workers as well as teams seeking a dedicated space, shielded from distractions.
