My experience at LILA was truly amazing. The school is beautiful, modern, and well-equipped, with excellent spaces for studying, working, and connecting with other students. I always felt safe, comfortable, and supported throughout my time there. All the staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely helpful from day one (especially Stacey, Naz, August, David and Jim). Not to mention that the location is fantastic, right in the heart of Liverpool and close to everything you could possibly need.
I had classes with David and August, both of whom are excellent teachers and contributed greatly to my improvement. The lessons were dynamic, engaging, and fun, and they always encouraged us to participate in activities with other students, which helped us build friendships and improve our speaking skills. I really enjoyed using the Cambridge textbook.
Another thing I really appreciated was their Weekly Goals programme. It was actually the first time I had seen something like this at a school. Using the SMART method, students set weekly learning goals that help them stay focused, motivated, and accountable for their progress. I found it to be a very effective tool for improving my learning experience.
LILA has a social events programme with a wide variety of activities available. Unfortunately, I already had a full schedule planned, so I didn't get the chance to take part in it. However, it looked like a great opportunity to meet new people, practice English outside the classroom, and enjoy different experiences around the city. I'll definitely participate next time I'm at LILA!
LILA also organised accommodation for my stay during the course. I stayed at Benson Yard, and it was an amazing experience. The accommodation has everything a student could possibly need, including a gym, study rooms, a games room, and laundry facilities. They also provide all the essential kitchen equipment, and there is even a roof terrace and a cinema room. I was beyond happy when I found out about all these facilities, as they made me feel much more comfortable about moving abroad and leaving my home in Brazil. In addition, it is only a 15-minute walk from LILA, making it very easy and convenient to get to school. I also can’t forget to mention that Benson Yard is a fantastic place to meet new people and make friends. Since students from all over the world live there, it’s a great opportunity to connect with different cultures and build lasting friendships.
One of the things that impressed me most was how safe I felt at LILA and in Liverpool in general. Everyone I met — at the school, in the accommodation, and throughout my daily life in the city — was kind, helpful, attentive, and welcoming. I always felt safe, comfortable, and genuinely happy during my time in Liverpool.
I've never felt so welcomed and seen at a school before. LILA gave me unforgettable memories, friends for life, and I'm so grateful for everything I learned and experienced there. Nowhere else have I felt such a strong sense of community, kindness, and support. I recommend LILA with all my heart! My experience was even better than I imagined, and I can't wait to come back.
