Misleading product information, and deceptive hidden costs. Their images show full height rooms that you can stand up in. The first screen says the approximate height of the room is 8ft . However, when you get to the quote page, which shows the same full size image of storage space, no immediate information about the height is available. You need to click the tiny “i” information button to discover it. But why would you when they are telling you the area in Sq feet and showing you a full height room and previously told you the approximate height is 8ft? It turns out there are two options, locker size, which is only 3 feet high and full height. They don’t tell you this or provide a picture of the reduced height locker. I assumed they were an honest company that provided honest visual representations of the space I was renting, and I believed the information they provided that said the space would be approximately 8ft, so I clicked reserve now. It turns out you have to scroll down to the next screen to discover there is a second option, but even then it’s not immediately obvious that the rooms have completely different heights. Even the booking they send you does not provide the true dimensions. I believe it is an intentional misleading practice because when you turn up with a van load of stuff to store they have you over a barrel, especially if you are hiring your vehicle or are time restrained. There is also a hidden insurance cost that is not detailed in the quote. Mine was £6.50 per week! Their competitors are much more honest upfront about the total cost. Once the full cost was considered, their competitors were MUCH cheaper.

Rebecca (I think that was her name!) was incredibly helpful and friendly throughout but especially when we had car troubles! Thoroughly recommend the storage was clean and easy to use 👍

I recently used Big Yellow Self Storage in Gateshead while moving house and had an excellent experience. Ben, the assistant manager, was professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable. He took the time to understand what I needed and helped me choose the most suitable storage unit for my belongings. The whole process was smooth and stress-free. Great customer service — highly recommended!
