A rather nice coffee and cake for a bit less than the major chains. The money appears to go in to the local community. Lovely staff and a couple of customers spotted wasn't local and were interested in why l was visiting the north east. Lovely friendly vibe , will definitely call again if l am in the area.
Nice place with a good vibe. Using very good locally hosted coffee. Staff could use a bit if training on brewing methods however. Overall do recommend. Just a shame the oping hours are a bit limited so had to mark down
Some places just *feel* different… and The Hub in Consett is one of them 💛 As someone who can find new spaces overwhelming, especially as a neurodiverse adult and parent, I honestly can’t explain how refreshing it is to walk into somewhere and feel completely accepted exactly as you are. No pressure. No judgement. No expectation to mask. Whether I turn up full of energy, completely overwhelmed, exhausted, emotional, excited or somewhere in between, I’m always welcomed with warmth, kindness and genuine support. There’s always a friendly face, a listening ear and people who truly care about community and connection. And honestly… the soup and scones alone are worth the visit 😂🥣✨ What makes this place so special is how inclusive it feels. You don’t have to worry if your child is a bit louder, more energetic, anxious, shy or struggles in traditional environments. Nobody makes you feel uncomfortable or “too much.” It genuinely feels like a safe space for *real humans*. I also absolutely love how much they support other local businesses and creators too. It’s not just a café or community space, it’s a place that genuinely lifts people up. From local products and makers to community projects and support services, you can feel how much heart has gone into creating something that benefits *everyone*. If you’ve ever worried about trying somewhere new, felt anxious about being judged, or just wanted somewhere that feels welcoming, understanding and community-focused… this is your sign to give The Hub a try 💛
Great option for small venue hire. Very accommodating for a child's birthday party and went out of their way to provide lovely lunch packs with beautifully decorated cupcakes. Scones and coffee are delicious and highly recommended. Child and breastfeeding friendly venue with some toys to keep the kids occupied while you eat
