I stayed here for 1 week, for a Government training course, one of many that is hosted by this training centre, on behalf of Civil Service. I was utterly appalled at the huge waste of money that taxpayers are contributing towards the upkeep of these facilities. It is right to highlight that most staff are courteous and polite, but that cannot simply override such a poor experience. The bedroom facilities are substandard, the beds are so firm, I might as well have slept on a brick wall, yet the pillows were like a postage stamp. I didn't sleep well all week and this had a hue impact on my participation during the course I was on. The bathroom ensuite looks nice at first glance, but the shower has barely a trickle, the small cupboards are filthy, and the most frustrating element is that despite towel change requirements (leave piled in bath, as per all other hotels and the signage in the bathroom), mine were simply refolded and left damp for next day usage. The rooms are crawling with spiders and other insects, there is no air conditioning and if you are unlucky enough to be ground floor, you have a choice of leaving windows open at the mercy of strangers and potential theft (for which Ashorne will not take any liability) or closed all day to leave the room feeling grubby and musty. The tv has barely any working channels, which isn't so bad, except there is nowhere to go unless you spend every night in the bar, paying local pub prices for average drinks. One of the most bizarre issues is the food. I don't want nor particularly care for Michelin star food, and I certainly don't care for it after a long day of training, yet Ashorne seems to think that taxpayer money is best spent on a chef that cooks the most outlandish food, and seemingly each dish from fresh given the amount of time you wait to be served. All in the one hour slot you are graced with on arrival the first day and that remains the same throughout. All the time I was there, there were two coffee making machines, one of which was out of order. I admit, I am no engineer, but surely a coffee machine can be fixed within a day or so! Overall, I had an awful week at this location and I am dumbfounded that people opt to come here voluntarily for a break!
Standard conference facilities. Main house is good looking. I stayed overnight in the Malvern block. These (along with most of the other rooms) are ‘out the back’ prefabbed units, akin to a cheap Travelodge. If you value soundproofing, don’t stay: I could hear the grunting and coughing of my neighbours as if we were all in the same room. One side decided to get up at 4.30am … nice.
Lovely hotel. The meld of Edwardian and modern is impressive and very comfortable. Accomodating and friendly staff. Evening (restaurant) meal and breakfast were delicious. Couldn't be better, everything you could want was available. Rooms were comfortable, beds and showers top quality. My only minus would be the constant noise drone/buzz of some kind of electrics in Malvern/72, made it difficult to sleep. However would love to return to take in the lovely grounds and welcome.

Great venue for work conference, plenty of areas to sit and work. Beautiful grounds around the venue, friendly staff and good selection of food.
