It's an iconic building of postmodern Paris. Architect Ricardo Bofill really went all out on this project. Extravagance borders on genius, but overall, I'm only half convinced. The building isn't open to its immediate surroundings (you feel enclosed), and the neighborhood is unfortunately not very safe for architecture enthusiasts—drug dealers politely asked me to leave when I was taking photos. I didn't have the chance to speak with any residents. The building is generally in good condition, but the concrete is starting to show its age. I don't recommend visiting it alone, even during the day. But I would gladly return, but only as part of a guided tour. For all these reasons, this incredible building only gets 3 stars from me.

The architecture is truly stunning and even more impressive in person. However, as other reviewers mentioned, it is not the safest area. I visited on a late weekday morning and barely saw any people. It does feel quite dodgy though, with trash, grafitti, broken glass. Getting there can be confusing, especially if you don't want to stare at your phone maps all the time. As a solo female traveler, I did not experience any hostility however I would recommend being cautious, respectful and aware of your surroundings. If I were to come back, I would not go alone. Not far from here you can find another iconic building, "the camemberts" which is easier to walk to and feels more safe.

An incredible architectural experience, a captivating vision of living. I loved it.
