New Year's Eve on the Riverboat: We started with the three-course "gala menu" and were unfortunately completely disappointed. The tomato soup was bland and too sour, and the main course—roast pork—was dry, with the fig stuffing clashing with the other components (tasteless, extremely salty pesto and a pumpkin puree). Whoever came up with this dish must hate food. At our table, all six plates were returned half-full. The cheesecake in a glass was simply a layered dessert: a cookie base, quark, and a raspberry coulis. All in all, a complete flop for us. On a positive note, we'd like to mention the waitresses: they were all incredibly friendly! Then we continued with the musical gala. Both artists were vocally superb. The song selection wasn't really to our taste, but that's just us. One more thing about Mr. Oberthür's welcome: That rather unfunny and boomer-ish dig at "diversity" was quite odd, especially coming from a man in drag. Perhaps, as a guest, you just want to have a nice evening…

A very pleasant atmosphere. We felt very comfortable, had a fantastic evening on the Riverboat, and laughed until we cried at and with one of the supposedly most right-wing populist YouTubers. If common sense, life experience, and a large dose of humor are considered right-wing populism these days, we find that very sad. A big thank you to the organizer. This is what freedom of expression looks like in action.
