I visited Mindspace recently to get a day pass and had a very disappointing experience.
When I arrived, I waited at the reception area for someone to help me, but no one was there. I went up to the 7th floor to look for a staff member who could assist me. Instead of being greeted or helped, the male office manager immediately accused me of “sneaking in” and told me I was in the wrong for coming upstairs.
Even after I calmly explained that I had been waiting downstairs at reception and only came up because nobody was there to check me in, his tone remained accusatory and dismissive. I felt like I was being treated as if I had done something wrong simply for trying to use the space as a legitimate visitor.
As a person of colour, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was being profiled, which was upsetting and deeply uncomfortable. Regardless of the reason, no guest or potential customer should be made to feel unwelcome or suspected just for trying to get assistance.
Given how serious this incident felt, I am considering making a formal complaint to the relevant authorities about the way I was treated. I hope Mindspace will seriously review how their staff speak to and treat people, especially walk-in visitors, and ensure that everyone is greeted with basic respect and professionalism. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this location.
