Went on a team retreat, and it was so beautiful. The people were very kind, and the space felt warm and safe. We were able to get a lot of work done, while also taking good breaks in the lovely environment.

I've been to the Coconat Retreat twice for creative writing in a small group. The first time was beautiful; the old building has been gently renovated, giving you a sense of the historic house. The second time was terribly disappointing. Apparently, the original organizers left the organization of Coconat in the hands of interns who had little experience. Two things made it impossible for me to go back to Coconat: A bottle of sparkling wine that we had left in the fridge for a birthday party (in consultation with the Coconat staff) was simply stolen. When we asked about it, we were met with a shrug. The second was the casual sexism we encountered at Coconat. We are older, partly queer women. While waiting in line for food, we were served last; the man at the counter was busy flirting (quite uncomfortable, even for the women being flirted with). When we complained, we were the problem. Sorry, Coconat. Never again.

One of my favorite places ever :) Beautiful nature, quietness, stimulating conversations, amazing food, spaces to give creativity free rein. And the library, with its fireplace, comfy couches, book selection and several musical instruments, is like a charging station. Lock me in and throw away the keys! 🔥

This place is like a hipster monastery with friendly staff in the middle of nowhere. But at 4:30am once a week a truck will park in front of your building to bring supplies that that would be very loud for 1h at least. They serve vegan food that 10min after being served is gone. So make sure you are there sharp for the lunch/dinner times or you will be hungry. My advice is bring snacks before coming to this remote location. There is a bus service but if you leave it takes 1h to be back again, and at 18h it stops completely until next day. If you don't want to depend on that bring a bike or own car. While I stayed there my room had no blackout curtains so in summer is very bright very early.
