Fantastic stay! The hotel is really well located, our room had a stunning view, and the bed was very comfortable. We also really appreciated the kitchenette, which was so convenient. But what truly made the difference was Rachel at reception. She took care of us from the moment we arrived, and all her thoughtful touches made our stay even more enjoyable. It's exactly this kind of service that makes you want to come back! A little tip: if the late check-out option is offered when you book, take it! The fees for extending your departure are quite high, and that was really the only downside to our stay. Thank you, Rachel, for the excellent service. We will definitely be back!
Conveniently located in the financial district in downtown Toronto. The hotel is in walking distance to restaurants and shops and the subway. The room and the bed was very comfortable. The food in the hotel restaurant was very good and priced the same at nearby eateries. We took advantage of the daily happy hour for drinks and appetizers. The staff is professional and very helpful.
I had a really unpleasant experience dealing with this hotel. Even if you book a room and you’re having your wedding there, they won’t let you take even one photo in the lobby without requiring a permit and charging you $500. I’ve never experienced such terrible communication at any other hotel in Toronto.
Great location. Easy to walk to nearby attractions and shopping. The hotel was clean and comfortable.
I’ve stayed at One King West multiple times over the years, and overall, it can be a great option, particularly if you’re staying in Toronto for several days and appreciate having extra space and amenities. The rooms are generally very large, which is a huge bonus for longer stays, and the hotel offers the conveniences you’d expect from a four-star property. That said, there is a noticeable difference between the Tower and Historical sides of the hotel. In my experience, the Tower side is better and you may get lucky and get a view, and I would strongly recommend requesting a room there if you have the option. Cons: Some of the rooms, particularly the kitchens and bathrooms, could really use a serious deep clean and better ongoing maintenance. I’ve noticed things like wallpaper beginning to peel away from the walls, discoloured or moldy grout in the bathroom tiles, bathroom floor tiles falling apart, cabinets in the kitchenettes and vinyl and carpets that can feel all a little musty/not well looked after (very similar to a 3 star hotel feel). The hotel has a lot going for it, but some additional attention to upkeep would make a significant difference and help the property feel more in line with its four-star positioning. The lobby is also quite small and feels a little crammed, so it’s not necessarily the best space to relax or spend time in. However, if you can grab a spot near the bar area, it’s perfectly pleasant. One thing I consistently appreciate is the staff, who are generally very friendly and pleasant. Communication with the hotel is also incredibly easy, the ability to text with staff is genuinely convenient and makes a difference when you need something during your stay. Overall, I continue to return because of the location, spacious rooms, amenities, and helpful staff. With some improvements to cleanliness and maintenance, this could be an even better hotel.
